We now exist in the information age. Knowledge is power. The ability of a community to inform its inhabitants and display its amenities directly affects its economic development and its very definition as a viable place.
A multi-phase plan for the design of the Gary Access Center was developed to aid in this community's endeavors to provide state-of-the-art audio-visual communication. The scope of this project included the relocation of the Gary, Indiana public recording and broadcasting studio to the Gary City Hall Annex Building. The design program included the integration of an 18-seat studio, a reception area, training rooms, as well as staff and intern offices and editing suites.
Proposed future phases will include a larger, 60-seat performance studio to showcase musical groups, theatrical performances, and public policy meetings before a live studio audience, as well as computer training rooms. This project is a result of the collaboration of several entities and stakeholders, including Indiana University Northwest, Ivy Tech State College, Valparaiso University, Methodist Hospital Northlake, Teledimensions Communication, and the City of Gary Common Council. This project's completion is a realization of talent, technology, and tolerance.
